Discover Brussels Capital Region

Belgium comprises in three regions. The Flemish-, Walloon- and the Brussels Capital Region. The Brussels Capital Region does not have the same legal status as the other two. The Capital Region includes nineteen municipalities of the Brussels-Capital and is the center of the urban area of Brussels. The entire urban area of Brussels (agglomeration) has over 2million inhabitants. However, this is not so much when you consider that only in the center almost 1.2million people live already.

Hiking

If you like hiking and biking in an urbanized area, the green walk in the Brussels capital region is perfect. It is a loop-shaped walking route of more than 60 kilometers, both a hiker and biker can explore the region. You will pass numerous parks and protected nature zones. The route leads you through diverse landscaped gardens, groves, swamps, orchards, landscape gardens, ponds, castle parks and country side. It does not isolate you from the city, but you’ll end up in a nice integrated green belt in an urbanized area.
