Apenheul Primate Park is a zoo in Apeldoorn here the monkeys live in freedom. The zoo is located in nature park Mountain & Forest and offers plenty of space to the monkeys. The monkeys that walk around in the park are from Africa, South America and Asia. Some even walk around among the visitors. The great apes, such as gorillas and orangutans live on separate islands.

Jambo and monkey live

You can discover as many as 35 species of monkeys in the Apenheul. Some are shy, others very cheeky. There is a possibility that a squirrel monkey jumps onto your shoulder. The animal keepers will tell you everything about their monkeys while they feed them. Especially the feeding of gorilla Jambo and his females is a highlight for the visitors. There are also educational games available for the children where they can learn all about the monkey and the Apenheul. The animal park is located on the outskirts of Apeldoorn, in the middle of the nature park the Veluwe and only less than an hour’s drive from Amsterdam.

Hours of operation

The Apenheul Primate Park is not open throughout the whole year. In 2016 the park will be open from April 15th until October 30th.
